Kangaroo Facts: Kangaroos are the largest marsupials on earth. They belong to the Macropodidae family, which literally means ‘big foot.’ Kangaroos can use their tail as a fifth leg and most kangaroos are left handed. There are more kangaroos in Australia than people.
About the Jillaroo: A jillaroo is the Australian equivalent of the American cowgirl. During the Second World War it became necessary for women to do all the occupations that traditionally men held. Jillaroos were the female jackeroos, the name coming from the widely known nursery rhyme poem Jack and Jill. Over the years, Jillaroos have become an Australian icon working on cattle or sheep stations around Australia.
